Returns and Exchanges

We want you to have the best experience possible with the products you purchase from us. If something is not right and you’d like to exchange or return it, please follow the steps that align with how you made the purchase – Online or In-store. If you purchased online and picked the product up in-store, please follow the in-store return steps.

Our standard return policies are:

  • Parts and Accessories may be returned within 30 days of purchase. You may opt for an exchange, store credit or full refund.
  • New Bikes may be returned within 15 days of purchase. Bikes must be in mint condition and show no signs of wear or cosmetic damage, or else you will incur a 20% reduction in your refund. You may opt for an exchange, store credit, or a full refund. Bikes must be packaged and shipped back to us in the box it was received in. Please follow the videos at the bottom of this page for boxing instructions.
    • Electric Bikes require additional authorization for returns due to the hazardous materials shipping required.
  • Used Bikes and Consignment Bikes are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
    • Important considerations when purchasing a used or consignment bike:
      • Manufacturers’ warranties do not extend beyond the original owner.
      • We strive to ensure these bikes are safe, operational, and tuned-up when you purchase them.
      • They are USED. You should expect cosmetic damage, obvious wear and tear, and even some light rust. We strive to capture these blemishes in the photos and draw your attention to them in the description.
      • If it’s possible you will not be happy receiving a bike that isn’t perfect, then we suggest you opt for a brand new bike instead.
  • Discounted, Sale, and Clearance items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
  • Modified or Customized Bikes, such as painting, changing bar tape, or cutting seat and steering tubes, are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
  • Special Orders are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
  • Personal Care Items, Nutrition, Water Bottles, Bibs, Bike Shorts, Bike Pants, or products that are applied to the body, consumed, or are often worn against the genital area are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded.
  • All other clothing may be returned within 30 days of purchase. It must have all tags and be returned in its original packaging.
  • Gift cards cannot be returned or refunded.

Returned Items Condition

  • Returned items must have tags still on and be returned in original product packaging.
  • Returned items must have no visible signs of wear or use.
  • Bikes must be boxed and shipped back to us in the original box you received it in. Please see the videos at the bottom of the page for steps on how to box a bike.

Damages and Defects

  • Please inspect your order upon receipt. Contact us by phone immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can make it right.

 

To initiate a return for:

Products Purchased Online and Shipped

  1. Please email us first at ratscyclessp@gmail.com and include “RETURN” in your subject line.
  2. Provide a reason for requesting the return.
    1. Was it damaged?
    2. Was it the wrong size?
    3. Was there something in particular you did not like?
  3. Please provide photos of the product.
  4. Let us know if you are open to receiving store credit or would prefer a full refund.

We will review your request, and if your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, a return authorization number (RA#), and instructions on how and where to send your package.

DO NOT mail your items back without an RA#. We will not issue a refund without an RA#.

All approved returns must be unused and in their original condition.

Exchanges

The fastest way to exchange an item is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

Refunds

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and we will let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too. 

If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at ratscyclessp@gmail.com.

Shipping Refunds

  • The original shipping charge is not refundable.
  • The return shipping charge will be deducted from your refund amount.
  • If you request store credit in lieu of a refund, the return shipping charge will be covered by Rats Cycles, but you may not request a refund of your store credit at a later time.

 

To initiate a return for:

Products Purchased In-Store or Purchased Online and Picked Up In-Store

  1. Please return to the store with the product.
  2. Bring a receipt, emailed copy of your receipt, or have provided your name, email and phone number at the time of purchase.
  3. Let us know if you are open to receiving store credit or would prefer a full refund.

All approved returns must be unused and in their original condition.

Labor and Special Order Policies

Special Orders:

All special orders are final and may not be returned or refunded.

Labor:

All labor service charges are final and not refundable.

We stand behind our work and test ride every bike we work on before we notify you of its completion. We also understand that, while rare, there is a chance that the work done will not meet your expectations. If this happens within 15 days from when you picked up your bike, please return to the shop and we will gladly address the issue for free.

It is your responsibility to confirm you are satisfied with the work performed within the 15-day window regardless of weather, your work/life balance, travel, apathy, distracting electronics, parents visiting, kids, in-laws, Netflix, fantasy football, or anything else that prevented you from test riding your bike.  You need to find 5 minutes within the next 15 days to confirm your satisfaction. We HIGHLY recommend you take a couple of laps in the parking lot before leaving the store to save yourself from the aggravation of a return trip.

Sarcastic humor aside, we reserve the right to charge for additional services needed to fix problems that are outside the scope of the original service performed. For example, shifting issues discovered by the owner after retrieving the bike brought in for a flat fix will be charged an adjustment fee. We are not liable for issues that were not disclosed and requested at the original service consultation.

Bike Storage

When you visit our store, it will be obvious that space is a premium. As such, we strive to provide you with quick turnarounds on service to get you riding again as fast as possible. Since we do not have lots of room to store bikes, we ask that you be equally quick in picking up your bike. We are happy to store your bike for 3 days after notifying you it is ready, but beyond that we will add a $5/day storage fee to your ticket.

After 30 days if you do not pick up your bike or respond to our calls and texts about your bike, we will consider the bike abandoned and will donate it to a deserving adult or child.

If you need more than 3 days to pick up your bike, please call the store to make arrangements.

Refunds

We will refund your original method of payment. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too. If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve initiated your refund, please call the shop at 703-269-3310, or contact us at ratscyclessp@gmail.com.

If you paid in cash and the amount to be refunded is more than $50, we will prepare and mail you a check within 2 business days.

We would also be happy to provide you with store credit in lieu of a refund.

Considerations When Choosing In-Store Pickup

In-store pickup is free for all items, including bikes. Most orders will be ready within one business day. Please keep in mind that some items may require additional processing time for assembly. We will call and text you once your order is ready for pickup.

If you need an item right away, please save yourself a potentially unnecessary trip and call us to confirm that the product is in-stock and available before heading to the store. Unless special arrangements are made in advance, orders need to be picked up within 15 days of being notified to avoid a storage fee.

Prices and Information

Our website is intended to help you. We make every effort to maintain current, accurate prices in our online catalog. And we strive for similar accuracy and timeliness with the other information we offer here. However, inventory or pricing errors may occur, and we reserve the right to decline or cancel any orders where mistakes or discrepancies in price or stock status exist regardless of the source of the error.
