You Could Be Our Next
Service Technician
Are you a cycling enthusiast? Do you like to tinker on your bike and perform upgrades and repairs? Do you dream of working in a bike shop, but don’t want to commit to full-time?
If even a small part of you thought “maybe”, then this could be the perfect opportunity!
Rats Cycles is looking for a Bicycle Technician to join our crew!
We're a small, growing business run by a cohesive, flexible, and supportive team. Our ideal candidate is passionate about supporting our community's biking pursuits and is eager to help keep its bikes working.
When Will You Work
We want to be upfront - our intention is for this to be a seasonal position. BUT we want to hire now and use the off-season for training so you will be ready to go strong in the busy season.
What does a seasonal position mean? It means you can expect 25-35 hours per week during our busy-season (April through September) and 2-3 hours per week in the off-season to keep your skills sharp.
During the busy-season, you should also expect at least 1 shift to be on a Saturday or Sunday.
We will give strong preference to those that prefer weekend shifts.
What You'll Do
We are seeking someone who can work independently alongside our full-time year-round Technicians:
- Build and assemble new bicycles.
- Perform essential repairs like flat fixes, brake, and derailleur adjustments.
- Install accessories and perform basic tune-ups.
- Diagnose issues and find the right parts for a perfect fix.
There is the potential for this role to grow into a full-time, year-round position as our business expands.
Who Is This Position Best For
In the past this position has best suited the lifestyle and flexibility needs of college students, empty-nesters or parents with independent teenagers, former or retired military members, and anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle, loves bikes, and wants chill but meaningful work.
You must be at least 18 and have experience working on bikes.
Sorry, but this is not a position for novices seeking to learn skills. If you cannot perform the first 2 bullet points above without supervision, then this position is not for you. Rusty skills, however, are ok. It's just like riding a bike, right?
What We Offer
We believe in supporting our team, both on and off the clock. Once you pass your probationary period and work a minimum number of hours per month, you'll receive some awesome benefits, including:
- Significant discounts on Trek bikes and products.
- Unlimited discounts on all bikes and products from our other vendors.
- Access to our workshop and tools for your personal bike projects.
How to Apply
If you're at least 18 and have experience working on bikes, we'd love to hear from you!
